Definition (Myers): in a language, a system of rules that enables us to communicate with and understand others 1
Definition (alternative): the study of the way the sentences of a language are constructed; morphology and syntax 2
Contextual explanation: The human language has evolved so much that without a system to help organize semantics (how human beings drive the word's meaning) and syntax (how human beings group words together to form sentences). The way to do so is through grammar, which allows us to communicate with others
