Definition (Myers):perceiving familiar objects as having consistent color, even if changing illumination alters the wavelengths reflected by the object 1
Definition (alternative): ensures that the perceived color of objects remains relatively constant under varying illumination conditions 2
Contextual explanation: When you look at an object, the color of its object will stay constant. In other words, even if you wear yellow-tinted ski goggles, you still know the color of the snow is white.
