Contextual explanation: As people grow, they can't and don't go from child to adult instantly. When a person is neither a child nor an adult, he/she is an adolescent. During this period people will learn new things about life and also learn how to deal with situations differently. They become more mature people that can function as grown up members of society. Physiological changes will also occur during this period.
