Hue is one of the two physical characteristics of light. The light's wavelength, determines the hue, or the color, that we see in our eye. Short wavelengths create bluish colors and long wavelengths create reddish colors. Wavelengths with a great amplitude create bright colors, and wavelengths with a small amplitude create dull colors.
