Contextual explanation: Group polarization is tendency of people in groups to make decisions that are opposite from decisions made by themselves independently. For example, group of soldiers in Iraq threw a dog down the cliff laughing. Usually individual soldiers won't do such things. However, the harsh environment and group polarization enabled soldiers to do random yet violent actions.
