We all tend to experience memory loss and confusion which is usually associated with aging. However, Alzheimer's disease is different and it also shares different symptoms. People with this disease show a decline in cognitive abilities such as decision-making and language skills, and problems recognizing family and friends. Alzheimer's disease is incurable. It is characterized by loss of neurons and synapses in the cerebral cortex. Intellectual activities such as playing chess or regular social interaction is known to reduce risk of suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
